Job Title: Engineering Geologist

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time, On-site

Job Description

  • Supervise the foundation investigation and installation/construction of the project
  • Conduct, oversee and supervise on-site and laboratory analysis of soil samples.
  • Carry out Pile Integrity Test (PIT)
  • Carry out structural integrity test – ultrasonic test
  • Manage safety and health issues on the site
  • Supervise drillers, casters, iron benders on site
  • Work with surveyors to get exact points for each pile installation
  • Decide on equipment and quantity of materials required to execute project
  • Ensure required equipment and materials get to site
  • Supervise the test - run all equipment to ensure their effectiveness
  • Supervise the set-up of equipment's to commence work.
  • Work with the project manager to manage and account for project budget
  • Manage equipment breakdown on site
  • Manage all regulatory compliant issues on site
  • Ensure project is delivered at the highest quality within the lowest possible budget
  • Manage end to end delivery of projects
  • Produce periodic reports on ongoing and completed project within the required time frame.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Geophysics, Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of a second-class lower degree from a reputable institution.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a geologist
  • Familiarity with basic geological computer programs designed specifically for analysing samples using geological data.
  • Great scientific reasoning and mechanical know-how.
  • Working knowledge of pile installation, subsoil and geophysical investigation
  • Able to work under pressure and a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong research capabilities and a willingness to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation, and procedures.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Able to prioritize effectively and balance assigned tasks.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company's Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
  • Knowledge of geological and geotechnical interpretation with understanding of geological origin and processes.
  • Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field.
  • This role is only for candidates who reside in Lagos.
