Job Title: Boarding School Cook

Location: Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • As a boarding school cook you'll prepare and serve nutritious, high-volume meals for students and staff.
  • Responsibilities include bulk food preparation, menu planning, maintaining strict kitchen sanitation, and accommodating dietary restrictions.
  • You will ensure consistent food quality while fostering a welcoming, healthy dining environment for the residential school community.

Core Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Cook large volumes of breakfast, lunch, and dinner while adhering to standardized recipes and nutritional guidelines.
  • Menu Planning: Assist the head chef or catering manager in developing varied, appealing menus that cater to diverse student demographics and dietary needs (e.g., allergies, religious restrictions, or vegetarian diets).
  • Inventory & Storage: Monitor food supplies, receive deliveries, rotate stock, and report shortages to minimize food waste.
  • Sanitation & Safety: Strictly enforce food health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, temperature control, and deep cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Community Engagement: Maintain a positive, professional demeanor while serving students and supporting special school events or functions

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in high-volume cooking, catering, or institutional food service.
  • Certification: Valid food handler's permit/certificate and basic culinary training or a degree in catering/culinary arts.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (like bulk food supplies), and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management to ensure all meals are prepped and served on schedule
