Job Title: HSE Officer

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections and safety audits.
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Risk Assessment & Incident Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses across operations.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Monitor corrective actions and ensure timely closure.

Training & Awareness:

  • Organize HSE inductions and safety training programs for employees.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all departments.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Maintain HSE records, reports, and documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and safety procedures.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and support compliance audits.
  • Prepare monthly HSE performance reports for management review.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Coordinate emergency response plans and evacuation drills.
  • Ensure firefighting equipment and emergency systems are inspected and maintained.
  • Support business continuity and emergency response initiatives.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years' experience in Health, Safety & Environment management.
  • Experience within manufacturing, facility management, production, logistics, hospitality, or service operations is highly desirable.

Certifications:

  • HSE Level 1, 2 & 3 Certifications.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or related certifications will be an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
  • Strong report-writing and documentation abilities.
  • Good communication and training facilitation skills.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
