Job Title: HSE Officer
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management:
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections and safety audits.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Risk Assessment & Incident Management:
- Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses across operations.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Monitor corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
Training & Awareness:
- Organize HSE inductions and safety training programs for employees.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.
- Promote a positive safety culture across all departments.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Maintain HSE records, reports, and documentation.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and safety procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and support compliance audits.
- Prepare monthly HSE performance reports for management review.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Coordinate emergency response plans and evacuation drills.
- Ensure firefighting equipment and emergency systems are inspected and maintained.
- Support business continuity and emergency response initiatives.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3 - 5 years' experience in Health, Safety & Environment management.
- Experience within manufacturing, facility management, production, logistics, hospitality, or service operations is highly desirable.
Certifications:
- HSE Level 1, 2 & 3 Certifications.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or related certifications will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices.
- Excellent risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
- Strong report-writing and documentation abilities.
- Good communication and training facilitation skills.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
