Job Summary

  • We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Mechanical Lead to oversee maintenance operations within a power plant environment.
  • This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems through effective preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and team leadership.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of plant maintenance practices and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support maintenance activities to ensure maximum uptime of critical plant systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, vessels, coolers, and auxiliary systems
  • Interpret P&IDs, equipment manuals, and technical documentation for maintenance execution
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance in line with company standards
  • Supervise and guide mechanical technicians, ensuring safe and efficient work practices
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety policies, Permit-to-Work (PTW), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Respond to plant emergencies in accordance with established response plans
  • Monitor plant system performance and report abnormalities to management
  • Oversee maintenance of gas turbines and associated plant systems following OEM and industry standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and logs, including CMMS data
  • Conduct inspections of spare parts and materials for quality and compliance
  • Perform and supervise welding activities (MIG, TIG, brazing, and stick welding)
  • Participate in outage planning and execution, ensuring availability of tools, resources, and personnel
  • Assist with audits of maintenance systems and safety procedures
  • Support development of short- and long-term maintenance plans (1-year, 3-year, 5-year)
  • Coordinate with operations teams to resolve plant operational issues
  • Ensure plant housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Participate in training programs and foster a strong team-oriented work culture
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in power generation (combined or simple cycle plants)
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in a similar role
  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems and plant equipment
  • Solid understanding of maintenance strategies and CMMS systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and procedures
  • Valid international passport and willingness to travel if required.

Salary
N40,000,000 annually.
