Job Title: Safety Officer

Job Summary
- The Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- The role involves conducting inspections, risk assessments, safety training, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with applicable HSE standards to prevent workplace accidents and environmental incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
- Carry out risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Ensure employees comply with safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices.
- Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE awareness training for employees and contractors.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
- Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure availability where required.
- Maintain HSE records, reports, statistics, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and client HSE standards.
- Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Support management in achieving HSE objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients, and contractors on HSE matters when required.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- HND, B.Sc., or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of HSE experience in construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, energy, engineering, or related industries.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and environmental management practices.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
