Job Title: Supply Chain Commercial Lead, HA Brownfield

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job type: Full-time (Permanent)

Job Purpose

  • The SC Commercial Lead, HA Brownfield Responsible for the management of Contracting and Procurement activities for HA HA Project Brownfield scope.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for executing Project Contracting and Procurement activities, ensuring business delivery focused on protecting Renaissance interests, mitigating risks and supporting the achievement of OSD for HA Development Project.
  • The role involves management of Brownfield contracts ensuring delivery and management of the Brownfield scope in line with the project schedule and plans, mitigating supply chain risks and supporting achievement of a lower cost base and for the project.

Responsibilities

  • The CP Lead delivers value through implementing the approved CP Strategy and Tactics.
  • Managing the Tender Process for the award of the Brownfield Contracts
  • Competitively benchmark contractor proposal from a value-based perspective; driving the application of most competitive supply chains
  • Resolution of commercial and contractual issues with contractors including terms and conditions of contract in collaboration with legal, risk and insurance specialists.
  • Deliver superior post award contract management in project execution including contracts administration to secure third party services and materials in compliance with cost and schedule plans ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Package Leads, Project Team, Project Manager to ensure aligned delivery and focus.
  • Implement the project management and health check systems including interface, risk/opportunity, permits and consents, cost, schedule/ progress, Quality, HSE (HSE MS, HSE Case, Goal Zero), and Monitoring/Reporting to ensure delivery of HA Development Project.
  • Maintaining good relationships with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure commitment and support.
  • Ability to apply sound commercial judgement and a simplification mind-set, - Application of the robust CP Expected Practices and Outcomes for Major projects, to deliver Value creation and Value protection across the lifecycle of the project.
  • Ability to apply sound commercial judgement and a simplification mind-set, understanding the difference between non-negotiable compliance elements (Safety, E&C, Code of Conduct, Law) and CP operating practices, while always keeping enterprise business value in focus.

Job Dimension:

  • The incumbent will be required to take the lead and proactively interface with stakeholders to ensure fit for purpose and timely preparation of the tender documents allowing the project to maintain this schedule.
  • Third Party Spend - Circa US$100mln cutting across HA/HB Projects.
  • Key Stakeholder Interfaces: Internal - Discipline Managers, Expert functions (e.g. Legal, Tax, Finance, Insurance, Project Services, Nigerian Content etc.), Tender Boards,
  • External - Suppliers and Contractors (Local and International), JV representatives, NCDMB.

Key Decision:

  • Contracting Strategy Decisions: Choosing the right contracting approach for the various Contracts in line with market realities
  • Supplier Performance Management: Deciding on performance metrics, intervention strategies for underperforming suppliers, and escalation paths. 

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized and reputable institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project Contracting and Procurement within the Oil & Gas sector, including demonstrated experience in EPC tendering processes.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Must be an experienced Contracting and Procurement (CP) professional on major capital projects. Proven hands-on CP Project management experience is essential, with ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural/ diverse environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, capability and competence in the following commercial, technical and interpersonal aspects:
  • Robust Oil and Gas Project Contracting and Procurement experience, both pre-FID and post-FID project execution, with demonstrable CP project competence is a key
  • Commercial acumen and Project Contracting: Development and execution of, Invitation to Tenders, analysis, negotiating and executing EPC contracts.
  • Knowledge of best practice post award contract management in EPC contracts (Contractor relationship and performance management, Contract administration and claims management)
  • Strong knowledge of strategic, technical, legal, finance, tax and commercial issues in contracts.
  • Interpersonal skill and effective communications both internally and externally and able to cope with complexity and uncertainty.
  • A hands-on mentality but with effective Team player skills, collaborates and integrates within CP and with contractors.
