Job Description

  • We are seeking highly performing, experienced and skilled professionals with the drive to create significant business impact.

Job Purpose

  • To provide process Engineering expertise and support the delivery of HA & HB-Buko projects.  
  • The HA & HB-Buko projects aim to provide circa 350-450 MMscf/d of gas to the NLNG Train-7 from 2029+, as well as 25-30 kb/d of oil and condensate for export. The projects’ projected gas supply constitutes circa 25% of the overall supply to the NLNG Train-7.
  • The HA project completed FEED in Apr-25 and is now completing the tendering phase of the project contracts.  While the HB-Buko project has initiated FEED in Q2-26. Current plan is for a joint HA/HB-Buko FID by end of Q1-27.
  • Given the strategic importance of both projects to the NLNG Train 7, and to derisk the project execution schedule to protect the First Gas Date, a full integration and optimization of HA & HB-Buko has been endorsed by the JV partners to improve the business case and to accelerate further optimizations of the projects. 
  • The Senior Process Engineer position involves provision of technical input & assurance throughout the project lifecycle including Conceptual, FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning stages, to safeguard design, technical and operational integrity. 
  • This job vacancy is an Individual Contributor role and location is Port Harcourt

Responsibilities

  • The purpose of this position is to deliver high quality process engineering input for the Process Engineering Discipline in HA project.  
  • Function as Senior Process Engineer and a Subject Matter Expert (SME process modelling). 
  • Assist the HA Process Discipline lead in managing the process discipline and willing/available to support other projects and Assets when required.  
  • Provide high quality - well thought out and documented - process engineering deliverables. 
  • Support the Project in meeting process safety AIPSM (Asset Integrity Process Safety Management) requirements for Design, Construction and operations.  
  • Interpret and apply design standards and Provide Process Engineering inputs in technical reviews and Management of Change to ensure technical integrity, efficiency, and safety of facilities. 
  • Contribute to successful project design delivery - on schedule and on budget - through efficient design practices. 
  • Share and implement global best practice and learnings with special focus on standardisation and repeatability. 
  • Develop effective and supportive working relationships with other disciplines. 
  • Support and coach trainee Engineers. 
  • Provide process related technical clarifications with contractors/vendors and seek avenues for cost savings.  
  • Work with a diverse range of process equipment vendors to optimise equipment design through the application of best practices. 
  • Apply minimum technical specification and system engineering initiatives for project specifications and contractors' activities on process engineering.  
  • Verification of the design works carried out by engineering contractors to ensure proposed solutions meet integrity, reliability, operability and maintainability requirements when required.  
  • Provide support during the fabrication, testing, installation and commissioning of process equipment, and conduct shop and field acceptance testing.  
  • Participate in the development of the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up plans for the HA facility.  
  • Contributory participation in multi-discipline project reviews including HAZOP, HAZID, E-3D model, layout, SIL classification studies, design reviews and constructability reviews.  

Job Dimension

  • Interfaces: Project Engineers, Discipline Engineers, Front End Lead , HSE, Production Assets, Contract & Procurement, Projects services, Maintenance, Quality Team.
  • External Relations: Design and Construction Contractors, OEMs, Vendors, Regulators etc 

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering) with NSE and COREN membership.
  • 8-10 years’ experience within the oil and gas industry.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Demonstrated competences for Process Engineering  
  • Experience with understanding of the operations and maintenance work processes. 
  • Knowledge of HSSE framework and International engineering standards, best practices, and systems. 
  • A good understanding of practices, standards and technologies relating to Oil and Gas facilities.  
  • Skilled in the use of simulation tools e.g., UNISIM, IPSM-GAP, PIPESIM, etc 
  • Strong team, personal and people management skills, committed to learning and continuous improvement 
  • Considerable customer focus, interpersonal skills and commercial astuteness are required together with initiative, expertise and energy to identify and exploit business opportunities. 
  • Good communication skill is essential. 
  • Ability to function effectively in a multi-ethnic, multi-disciplinary environment. 
  • Good leadership, coaching, negotiating, decision making, personal relations and communications skills are paramount for success. Inter-cultural awareness, team integration abilities are a requirement.  
  • Personal effectiveness and ability to work and deliver with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience working with Sub-surface Disciplines in a collaborative environment, including the use of Integrated Production System Modelling Tool(s).
