Job Title: Head of Accounting

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary 

• The Head of Accounting is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and the timely preparation of financial reports.
• The role provides strategic financial leadership, supports business decision-making, manages accounting personnel, and ensures the implementation of sound financial controls and accounting practices.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records and financial reports.
• Monitor cash flow, revenue, expenditures, and financial performance.
• Prepare management reports and financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate year-end closing activities and financial audits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions.
• Oversee tax filings, statutory remittances, and regulatory reporting.
• Manage the organization's general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed asset accounting functions.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and documented.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting adjustments.
• Maintain an efficient accounting system and reporting structure.
• Lead, supervise, and develop the accounting team

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 7 of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• At least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, auditing, and internal controls.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
• Understanding of tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
• Must be able to use SAGE
• Experience in the Real Estate industry is an added advantage.
