Ocean Marine Solutions Limited is a strategically positioned organization operating the marine industry to provide solutions to high-risks security concerns in Nigerian waters.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Port Captain
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job type: Full-time
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees and organizes efficient operation of assigned fleet. Performs problem solving, troubleshooting, operational handling, training and supervision of all seagoing personnel while overseeing crew overtime and deck ordering.
- Make recommendation to HRM for crew external training where necessary for optimal performance.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations, ongoing training and assessments while building strong team morale and communication.
- Assists in the continual development of the marine fleet operational policy, standard operating procedures and safe working procedures.
- Prepares vessels and crews for class and client’s inspections.
- Monitors deck supplies and item ordering for the new vessel.
- Conducts post-incident investigations and assessments – follows up to ensure corrective measures are in place.
- Ensure crew and ashore base employees are conducting routine and timely vessels maintenance.
- Ensure all LSAs & FFAs are in place.
- Ensure validity of vessels trading documents, for LSAs & FFAs.
- Achieve on-the-spot inspections at every port call of each vessel to identify defects and call for repairs as may be required.
- Ensure vessels are weekly updated with nautical publications for update of charts.
EducationalQualifications, Certifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications:
- B.sc / HND in Maritime operations or related study.
- Chief Mate/ Master Certificate of Competency.
- National Diploma in Nautical Science or Associate certificate from NIMASA approved
- Maritime Institute is an added advantage.
- STCW mandatory Certificates. SSCE.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies.
Experience:
- 3-5 years’ work experience

- Shipboard Management
- IT Appreciation & Application
- Initiative / Judgement
