Job Title: Head of Finance

Location: Abuja (FCT) 

Job Summary

  • Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic finance leader to serve as Head of Finance. This role is responsible for providing financial leadership, ensuring sound financial governance, driving long-term financial sustainability, and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • The successful candidate will lead the Finance Department, overseeing accounting, procurement, inventory management, budgeting, reporting, compliance, treasury operations, and internal controls.
  • The role requires a commercially minded leader who can balance financial discipline with strategic foresight while building a high-performing team and strengthening organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Lead financial forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term financial planning.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor budget performance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and financial analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal control and financial governance frameworks.
  • Monitor financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee treasury operations, reconciliations, revenue management, and expenditure controls.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of organizational assets and financial resources.
  • Provide strategic oversight of procurement and inventory functions.
  • Ensure procurement processes deliver value for money, transparency, and compliance.
  • Monitor inventory controls, asset management, stock reconciliation, and asset tagging processes.
  • Strengthen controls to minimize waste, losses, and inefficiencies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.
  • Build effective relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to support organizational goals.

Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • ACA, ACCA, ICAN, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years' progressive experience in finance, accounting, and financial management.
  • At least 3 years in a senior leadership role with responsibility for finance operations.
  • Proven experience managing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, procurement, and inventory functions.
  • Experience leading teams and driving organizational performance improvements.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong strategic, commercial, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent financial planning, forecasting, and reporting capability.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, taxation, internal controls, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience with accounting systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Salary
N800,000 - N1,000,000 per month.
