Nexia Nigeria - Our client, a leading agribusiness organization with operations across multiple states in Nigeria—is seeking to recruit an experienced and strategic Head of Human Resources to lead and strengthen its people and organizational development function.

The organization operates across crop production, livestock and animal management, irrigation systems, agro-processing, logistics, and sustainable agricultural services. As the organization continues to expand its operations and workforce, it seeks a dynamic HR leader who can build strong people systems, drive organizational culture, and support sustainable growth across all operational locations.

Job Title: Head of Human Resources

Location: Abuja (with periodic travel to programme states)
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

  • The Head of Human Resources will provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s human resources function across all states of operation.
  • The role holder will oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, organizational development, policy implementation, learning and development, and HR compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment across all departments and states, including field-based hiring.
  • Design and manage onboarding processes that properly ground new staff in the organization’s mission and values.
  • Lead HR policy development, review, and implementation.
  • Coordinate staff capacity assessment processes in collaboration with department heads.
  • Oversee learning and development tracking systems and staff development initiatives.
  • Manage performance review processes and ensure alignment with staff growth and organizational objectives.
  • Handle employee relations matters, grievance management, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and employment regulations across all operational states.
  • Maintain accurate staff records, contracts, HR documentation, and payroll coordination.
  • Support organizational development initiatives as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Business Psychology, Industrial Relations, Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification: CIPM membership or equivalent professional certification is required.
  • Experience Baseline: 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2–3 years in a senior HR role.
  • Multi-site Management: Experience managing HR across multiple sites or states within Nigeria.
  • Organizational Development: Proven experience supporting organizational development initiatives beyond transactional HR.

Industry Advantages:

  • Experience within agriculture, agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, or field-based organizations is an added advantage.
  • Experience working on donor-funded agricultural programs and projects is desirable.
