Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Locations: Lagos and Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
- The role involves cost planning, preparation of Bills of Quantities, procurement support, contract administration, valuation of works, and cost control to ensure projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management and Estimating:
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and tender documents.
- Conduct quantity take - offs from drawings and specifications.
- Monitor project costs and provide regular cost reports.
- Evaluate project variations and assess their financial implications.
Procurement and Tendering:
- Prepare tender documentation and analyze contractor quotations.
- Assist in the selection and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Negotiate rates and contract terms where required.
- Monitor procurement activities to ensure value for money.
Contract Administration:
- Administer construction contracts and monitor compliance with contractual obligations.
- Prepare interim valuations and payment certificates.
- Assess and certify subcontractor and supplier claims.
- Evaluate extension of time and variation claims.
Project Cost Control:
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Identify cost - saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs and financial commitments.
- Prepare project cash flow forecasts.
Site Coordination and Reporting:
- Conduct site measurements and valuations.
- Attend site meetings and provide commercial advice to the project team.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients on commercial matters.
- Prepare periodic financial and progress reports for management.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc. or HND in Quantity Surveying.
- Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is an added advantage.
- Registration with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) is desirable.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years relevant experience in building and construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and quantity surveying software.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contract administration.
