ECI work across Health/ Nutrition, Education, Food Security and livelihood, Wash, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Peace building Conflict Resolution, Climate change Adaptation and Environmental Sustainability, Protection, with strong focus on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). El-Ezhar Care Initiative is in consortium with Murmushi people’s Development (MPDF) Foundation as the lead partner and Clear View Integrity Initiative (CVIF) to implement an integrated UNICEF supported programme across six LGAs of Adamawa State: Gombi, Hong, Mubi North, Mubi South, Michika ad Madagali.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance Officer
Locations: Gombi, Hong, Mubi North, Mubi South, Mikicka, and Madagali LGA - Adamawa
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the application of accounting proceddures by the programme team
- Review financial documents and transactions to ensure compliance with CI procedures and donor requirements
- Conduct regular financial checks and controls to identify and mitigate financial risk
- Support the implimentation of donor financial compliance requirement s and recommendation from audits
- Ensure proper followup of vendors payments and disbursment and participate in vendor account reconciliation in coordination with procurement-logistics and relevant department.
- Ensure accounting checks are carried out (validate o documents, quality of accounting , and funding allocations, etc) internal regulations and procedures are correctly applied.
- Ensure finacila information is communicated effectively between various department.
- Report technical issues, concerns, and operational challenges to the management team in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the sharing of financial information necessary for the base level decision-making and operational planning.
- Oversee the roll out of monthly, semi-annually and annually closing financial/ bank reconciliation
- Ensure quakilty of accounting deliverables , compliance with deadlines for compliance with the organizations internal frameworks
- Any other task assigned
Budget Management:
- Providing base level budget follow-up monitoring, and analysis to fild coordinator/ management
- Contribute to cost optimization initiatives through effective budget tracking and expenditure analysis.
- Ensure accurate forecasting of expenditures in coordination with Programme Mangers and support department.
- Monitor budget consumption rates and alert management to potential over-or under spending
- Verify the correct allocation of expenses to project, budget lines, and cost centre accounting codes
- Participate in monthly budget monitoring meetings by identifying variances, highlighting risks, and proposing corrective actions to field coordinator and the budget holders at each base.
Internal Communication:
- Ensure that financial information is communicated effectively between the various departments
- Report technical issues, concerns, and operational challenges to the management team in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the sharing of financial information necessary for the base level decision-making and operational planning.
- Participate actively in base coordination and base management meetings to provide financial update and recommendations.
- Organiz BVA and regular wekly meetings with base finance team members
Priority of the Department:
- Timely submission of accurate and complete monthly accountancy report to coordinators.
- Ensure financial compliance with regards donor requirement and financial SOP.
Qualifications / Core Requirements
- University degree or equivalent in Accounting , Finance , Economics or related fields
- Good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (especially UNICEF)
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience working with financial institutes or humanitarian sector
- Experience working in emergency settings
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
- Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
- Ability to read and write in both English and others languages appropriately in Northeast Nigeria
- Skills in training and management
- Proficiency in the use of computers (MS Word, Excel, Power Point Presentation).
- Should be multitasking and can work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to provide quality and timely support and services.
- Professionalism and flexible attitude to work
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of humanitarian sector.
- Ability to speak English fluently, Hausa and other local languages desirable.
- Familiarity with financial management and reporting requirements of major donors.
- Excellent English written, verbal communication and report writing skillsto manage relationship in potential tense situations.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to diverse contexts.
Organizational Requirement:
