We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Sensory Assistant

Location: Nigeria

Job Purpose 

  • To support sensory evaluation activities used to assess the taste, aroma, texture, appearance, and overall quality of products.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present product samples for sensory evaluations in line with approved procedures.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating sensory panel sessions, including trained panels and consumer testing activities.
  • Accurately record panellist's responses and maintain detailed sensory evaluation records.
  • Ensure sensory testing environments are clean, controlled, and free from bias or contamination.
  • Label, code, and randomize samples to facilitate blind testing and maintain result integrity.
  • Support data entry, collation, and basic analysis of sensory evaluation results.
  • Maintain inventory of sensory materials, equipment, and consumables.
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and quality management standards at all times.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of sensory evaluation methods and procedures.
  • Assist in the training and calibration of sensory panellists.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing teams to support product innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support benchmarking studies, shelf-life evaluations, and new product development projects.

Qualification

  • National Diploma in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years' experience in sensory evaluation, product development, quality assurance, or a related role within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.

The Person Must:​

  • Have a strong interest in food quality, sensory science, and consumer preferences.
  • Possess good observational skills with the ability to identify subtle differences in taste, aroma, texture, and appearance.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
  • Have basic knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques and testing methodologies.
