Job Title: Backend Engineer

Location: Wuse 2, Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

• We are seeking a skilled and innovative Backend Engineer to join our client's growing fintech startup.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing backend systems that power our digital financial products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs
• Build scalable and secure server-side architecture
• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and financial systems
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and security
• Develop and manage databases and data storage solutions
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing systems
• Implement security best practices and compliance requirements
• Participate in code reviews and system design discussions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 3–5 years’ experience in backend development (startup or fintech experience preferred)
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or PHP
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of security, scalability, and system performance

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in fintech, payments, or financial systems
• Knowledge of microservices architecture
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Familiarity with DevOps practices
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Salary
N250,000 - N500,000 monthly.
