Job Title: Business Development Manager – Supermarket & Retail (Convenience Stores, Grocery Shops, Minimarkets)

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • We are looking for a seasoned professional with a strong network across hotels or restaurants in Nigeria, and to drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships and merchant acquisition.
  • You will drive direct sales and channel partnerships, onboarding both accommodation and dining businesses to adopt our POS terminals and PWT service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and approach decision-makers (hotel GMs, finance directors, owners; restaurant managers, owners, F&B directors) to pursue new business opportunities across assigned regions and sectors.
  • Negotiate and close agreements to place POS terminals in hotels and restaurants.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline across Nigeria’s hospitality industry.
  • Develop channel partnerships with hotel management companies, restaurant associations, and procurement agencies.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations to prospective merchants.
  • Monitor and analyze merchant performance to ensure consistent engagement and growth.
  • Negotiate and close deals that align with company objectives and profitability targets.
  • Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3+ years of B2B sales/business development experience in Nigeria’s supermarket or general retail sector (selling POS, payment solutions, inventory software, or working directly with retail store owners, cash & carry outlets, or FMCG distributors).
  • Proven track record of scale: Must have personally onboarded at least 20 retail stores (including a minimum of 5 supermarket or chain convenience stores – e.g., SPAR, Justrite, ShopRite, Game, or regional mini-mart chains).
  • Success case volume: Demonstrated ability to generate or manage ₦800M+ annual transaction volume (GMV) from retail clients, or a verifiable portfolio of 20+ active merchants with a total of 200+ POS terminals deployed in the supermarket/retail vertical.
  • Existing network of retail shop owners, supermarket managers, mall tenants, or market union leaders in Lagos and major cities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a passion for sales and business growth.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with major retail chains in Nigeria (SPAR Nigeria, ShopRite, Justrite, Game, Pricepate, Addide, Ebeano, Prince Ebeano, or neighborhood mart franchises).
  • Previous role as territory sales manager for an FMCG company (Nestlé, Unilever, PZ Cussons, BUA, etc.), retail tech provider, or payment aggregator.
  • Understanding of retail cashflow, daily sales cycles, and operational pain points in busy stores.
  • Familiarity with digital payment solutions, fintech products, POS operations, and merchant management.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and resilience in handling client challenges.
