We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Nigeria

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
  • Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, track performance against targets, and provide clear variance analysis to support decision-making.
  • Carry out regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet items, and other key financial accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules and documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Manage tax computations, VAT returns, and other statutory filings accurately and within required timelines.
  • Strengthen internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity positions to support effective financial planning and business operations.

Qualifications, Experience and Skill

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • A Master's Degree (MBA, MSc Finance, or Accounting) will be an added advantage.
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of general ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Good understanding of tax regulations, statutory compliance, and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience supporting audits and working with internal control and risk management processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Strict Industry Experience Requirement:

  • At least 7 years out of the 10-15 years experience must be in the Nigerian retail/ FMCG industry including telecommunications, residential real estate, downstream oil and gas or banking.
