We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: English Language / Literature Teacher

Location: Lagos

Responsibilities
Teaching & Instruction:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in English Language and Literature.
• Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking skills.
• Introduce students to prose, poetry, drama, and literary criticism.
• Use diverse teaching methods to engage learners of different abilities.

Curriculum & Lesson Planning:

• Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
• Select and analyze literary texts appropriate for the class level.
• Prepare schemes of work, handouts, assignments, and teaching aids.
• Integrate technology and creative activities into instruction.

Student Assessment & Evaluation:

• Design and administer tests, quizzes, essays, and examinations.
• Grade assignments and provide constructive feedback.
• Assess students’ strengths and areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance.

Classroom Management:

• Create a disciplined, respectful, and supportive learning atmosphere.
• Establish class rules and manage student behavior positively.
• Encourage active participation and collaboration among students.

Literacy Development:

• Support students in developing reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
• Guide students in literary interpretation and text analysis.
• Encourage creative writing, debate, and communication activities.

Student Support:

• Identify struggling learners and provide extra academic support.
• Encourage confidence-building through presentations, reading aloud, and writing activities.
• Mentor students and foster a love for reading and literature.

Communication & Collaboration:

• Communicate regularly with parents on students’ progress and behavior.
• Work with colleagues to ensure curriculum consistency.
• Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and school events.

Professional Responsibilities:

• Maintain professionalism and adhere to school policies.
• Stay updated on new teaching methods, trends, and literary works.
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Literature, Education, or related field.
• Teaching certification or relevant teaching experience.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Ability to teach both English Language and Literature effectively.
