Job Title: Production Engineer

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary 

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Ikorodu, Lagos.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing production activities, welding operations, NDT processes, manpower management, and ensuring efficient execution of fabrication projects while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in line with approved production plans.
  • Monitor welding, fabrication, fit-up, and NDT activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain daily production reports, MIS reports, and ISO documentation.
  • Manage shop floor operations, including manpower allocation, workflow planning, and production scheduling.
  • Monitor machine performance and optimize production efficiency.
  • Analyze production data and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times and increase productivity.
  • Investigate production defects, rework, and rejection issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, IMS, quality, and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain required departmental records.
  • Maintain shop floor discipline, housekeeping standards, and implementation of 5S methodology.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and other departments to achieve production targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • COREN registration will be an added advantage.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in fabrication and structural steel manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing production activities within heavy fabrication environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent understanding of production planning, quality systems, and manufacturing best practices.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, fit-up techniques, welding operations, and structural steel manufacturing.
  • Experience in manufacturing and fabrication of:
    • Oil & Gas Structures
    • Transmission Towers
    • Telecom Towers
    • Solar Structures
    • General Fabricated Steel Structures
  • Hands-on knowledge of production equipment such as:
    • CNC Angle Punching Machines
    • CNC Plate Punching Machines
    • Plasma Cutting Machines
    • Hydraulic Presses
    • Shearing Machines
    • Press Brakes
    • Drilling Machines
    • Milling Machines
    • Angle Stamping and Notching Machines
    • Section Straightening Machines
    • Hot Bending Equipment
    • Welding Equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and structural drawings.
  • Knowledge of NDT processes and quality control requirements.
  • Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems and production reporting tools.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
  • Good understanding of ISO/IMS procedures.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and implementation of 5S practices.
  • Strong analytical and continuous improvement mindset.
