Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Technical Design Manager to lead the design and development of automotive products, systems, and components.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the technical design function, overseeing product development projects, and ensuring that all designs meet performance, quality, safety, cost, and regulatory requirements.
  • This role requires strong engineering expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for driving innovation within the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of vehicle systems, components, and assemblies.
  • Manage and supervise the Technical Design team, ensuring efficient project execution and delivery.
  • Develop design concepts, engineering specifications, technical drawings, and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable automotive standards, regulations, and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and R&D teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, prototypes, and product modifications.
  • Oversee Computer-Aided Design (CAD) activities, simulations, and engineering analyses.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analyses to improve product reliability and performance.
  • Support prototype development, testing, validation, and product launch activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote innovation in engineering design processes.
  • Stay abreast of emerging automotive technologies, materials, and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in automotive design, product development, or engineering, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar design platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle design principles, manufacturing processes, and automotive regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Membership of a recognized professional engineering body and relevant certifications will be an added advantage.
