Our Client is a leading indigenous conglomerate with business interests in key sectors of the Nigerian economy, including foods and agro-allied, energy (oil, gas and power), infrastructure, real estate and services. Due to internal vacancies they have decided to hire a Project Manager.

Job Title: Project Manager

Position / Reports to: Project Steering Committee/ Project Sponsor
Executive Management

Supervises:
  • Project Team
  • chart project objectives and set project performance requirements
  • Create and establish plans and procedures for managing the project from inception to closure
  • Co-ordinate implementation of project operations
  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day management of the project
  • Ensure project alignment to budget, quality, cost and timelines agreed
  • Define change management procedures and manage deviations during the life of a project

Role summary:
  • To champion the articulation and development of specific strategies, work plans and programmes aimed at executing the feed-mill business opportunity and the pasta expansion initiative
  •  To oversee design, construction, completion, roll-out, and management of feed-mill processing and pasta expansion facilities
  •  To provide exemplary technical and managerial leadership for the core project team such that project output is delivered in line with agreed expectations
  •  To provide accurate and timely reporting to executive management
  •  To plan, execute and manage each phase of the project from concept development to project closure

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee design, construction, completion, roll-out, and management of feed-mill processing and pasta expansion facilities
  • Develop project charter highlighting the project objectives, project governance structure, project scope, high level timelines, critical milestones, assumptions & constraints
  • Develop a comprehensive project work plan to manage the execution of the project with regards to scope, cost, schedule, resources, quality, communication, human resources, procurement & risk
  • Establish and maintain project management processes for the construction, operation and management of the feed mill processing facility and pasta expansion
  • Champion the articulation and implementation of specific sourcing strategies and equipment) to enable procurement of same in a cost effective and competitive manner.
  • Foster and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with relevant third parties such as suppliers, contractors, consultants, vendors, business partners and distributors
  • Develop tools and templates for communication with key stakeholders
  • Monitor and control work progress and ensure adherence to defined and agreed performance indices, especially around time and costs management
  • Co-ordinate people and manage utilisation of other resources to implement project activities viz-a-viz overall expectations of output/ outcome
  • Organise communication sessions with stakeholders as defined in the work-plan to report work progress, key project risks and mitigate identified risks
  • Periodically review key areas of the project to recognise changes and identify possible impacts on the overall project and distil mitigation strategies to address the identified implications
  • Prepare project status reports as required/ as defined in the project plan
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, health and environmental standards and implement a zero tolerance attitude towards unsafe conditions
  • Proactively pre-empt, identify and manage project risks

Qualifications & Experience
  • 1st Degree in Civil/Building/Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Possession of professional certification in project management (e.g. PMP)
  • Post-graduate degree; MBA or M. Sc in a management related discipline is preferable
  • Minimum twelve (12) years relevant work experience with at least four (4) at supervisory/managerial levels in manufacturing or FMCG business entity
  • Project Management or Supervision of the development and build of an FMCG manufacturing plant in Nigeria and a Frontier market
  • Solid knowledge of the Nigerian foods and agro-allied industry alongside legal, regulatory and safety standards.
