Job Summary
- We are seeking a proactive and experienced Purchase Officer to join our team in Ikorodu, Lagos.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring steel raw materials and consumables, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement to support production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure steel raw materials including: Angles, Channels, Pipes, Plates, Fasteners
- Other fabrication and production materials
- Procure operational consumables required for manufacturing activities.
- Evaluate and verify material specifications in line with production and engineering requirements.
- Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and secure favorable procurement terms with suppliers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier performance.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, and purchasing documentation.
- Coordinate with stores, production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Follow company procurement policies and procedures while ensuring cost optimization.
- Track purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Resolve supplier-related issues concerning quality, quantity, and delivery schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing & Supply, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–7 years' experience in procurement, preferably within the steel, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial sector.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing steel raw materials and industrial consumables.
- Familiarity with the Nigerian steel market and supplier network.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of inventory management and procurement processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems will be an added advantage.
Preferred Experience:
- Procurement of materials for steel fabrication, galvanizing, engineering, construction, or manufacturing operations.
- Supplier evaluation and contract management.
- Cost reduction and strategic sourcing initiatives.
