Job Title: Quality Control Inspector (QA/QC)

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector (QA/QC) to join our Quality Assurance & Inspection team in Ikorodu, Lagos.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting fabricated structures and products throughout various stages of production, ensuring compliance with quality standards, engineering drawings, project specifications, and manufacturing quality plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality inspections on fabricated products and structures at various stages of production.
  • Inspect fabrication activities including cutting, stamping, notching, bending, heel cutting, fit-up, and welded assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing quality plans, project specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Review and interpret shop drawings, structural drawings, fabrication drawings, and welded assembly drawings.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update daily inspection reports, quality records, and inspection documentation.
  • Interpret and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality procedures.
  • Utilize measuring instruments and inspection tools to verify product conformity.
  • Monitor welding activities and ensure compliance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor NDT activities including:
    • Visual Testing (VT)
    • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI/MT)
    • Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT/PT)
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues, rework, and product rejection, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IMS procedures and company quality standards.
  • Promote and maintain shop floor discipline, housekeeping standards, and implementation of 5S methodology.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives and ensure adherence to safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Fabrication Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Must have 4–6 years' experience in Quality Control Inspection within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in inspection of:
    • Oil & Gas Structures
    • Transmission Towers
    • Telecom Towers
    • Solar Structures
    • General Steel Fabrication

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering, fabrication, and structural drawings.
  • Knowledge of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation.
  • Experience with dimensional inspection and quality control procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of inspection and measuring instruments.
  • Good understanding of welding processes and quality requirements.
  • Working knowledge of NDT methods including VT, MT/MPI, PT/DPT, and UT.
  • Familiarity with ISO Quality Management Systems, IMS procedures, and ERP/SAP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • COREN registration will be an added advantage.
  • Certifications in NDT, Welding Inspection, Quality Management Systems, or related disciplines will be highly desirable.
