We design, build and operate the lowest cost hybrid (solar and biomass) power plant and distribution network in India and Africa. To date, Husk has provided electricity to over 15,000 homes and business, reducing 95,000 tonnes of CO2. Our aim is to provide 30MW of power to 225,000 customers by 2025, and save 350,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Lead, Adjacent Businesses
Locations: Nasarawa & Kaduna

Business Growth & Commercial Development:
- Develop and execute the growth strategy for energy-enabled services across Husk communities.
- Identify, evaluate, and launch new revenue-generating services leveraging existing energy infrastructure.
- Conduct market assessments to identify customer needs, demand gaps, and commercial opportunities.
- Develop business cases and implementation plans for new products and services.
- Establish partnerships with local entrepreneurs, cooperatives, institutions, and community stakeholders.
- Support expansion of productive-use energy solutions that stimulate local economic development.
Partnership Management:
- Develop and execute a partnership strategy to support the growth and sustainability of Husk's adjacent businesses portfolio.
- Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships with private sector organizations, development agencies, financial institutions, government bodies, cooperatives, and community-based organizations.
- Establish and manage commercial agreements, partnership frameworks, and joint implementation plans.
- Leverage partnerships to unlock new revenue streams, customer acquisition channels, financing opportunities, and market access.
- Monitor partnership performance against agreed objectives and ensure delivery of partnership commitments.
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and represent Husk in relevant industry, community, and ecosystem engagements.
Energy Services Portfolio Management:
- Manage the performance of all existing energy services and productive-use businesses.
- Monitor revenue, profitability, utilization, and customer adoption across service lines.
- Optimize pricing, operating models, and service delivery approaches.
- Develop initiatives to improve customer uptake and increase repeat usage.
- Ensure energy services contribute positively to business-level financial performance.
Operations & Service Delivery:
- Coordinate with Operations teams to ensure reliable service delivery and asset availability.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all energy service offerings.
- Monitor equipment performance, inventory levels, maintenance schedules, and operational efficiency.
- Resolve operational issues affecting service quality, availability, or profitability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational controls.
Customer Engagement & Market Development:
- Conduct regular field visits to understand customer needs and usage patterns.
- Engage communities to increase awareness and adoption of energy-enabled services.
- Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities for service improvements.
- Develop customer education and activation initiatives to drive demand.
- Strengthen relationships with community leaders and local stakeholders.
Innovation & New Product Development:
- Identify new productive-use opportunities that increase energy consumption and customer value.
- Evaluate emerging opportunities in e-mobility, agriculture and agro-processing, water services, refrigeration, digital services, and rural enterprise development.
- Design and manage pilot programs for new service offerings.
- Monitor pilot performance and recommend scaling strategies.
- Develop a pipeline of commercially viable growth opportunities.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Own portfolio P&L performance and deliver agreed revenue, margin, utilization, and growth targets.
- Develop annual business plans, budgets, forecasts, and investment cases for adjacent business initiatives.
- Track revenue, gross margin, utilization, customer adoption, impact, and profitability metrics.
- Prepare weekly and monthly business performance reports.
- Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Support data-driven decision-making through commercial analysis and performance insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in business development, commercial operations, rural energy, and productive-use applications, agriculture value chains, or related sectors.
- Experience managing multiple revenue-generating business lines.
- Strong commercial and financial analysis skills.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and business reporting tools.
- Experience working in rural or underserved markets is highly desirable.
- Understanding of mini-grids, distributed energy systems, e-mobility, water services, or agricultural processing businesses is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required; Hausa language proficiency is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively across operating communities.
