Job Title: Power Operations Supervisor

Location: Lagos

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of all generating units and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure power generation targets are achieved.
• Monitor plant performance, efficiency, and availability.
• Coordinate startup, shutdown, and load changes.
• Supervise control room operators, shift leaders and plant operators.
• Prepare shift schedules and manpower plans.
• Conduct performance evaluations and training programs.
• Develop succession plans for key positions
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for planned and unplanned outages.
• Review maintenance schedules to minimize plant downtime.
• Ensure equipment defects are reported and corrected promptly.
• Analyze KPIs such as 1. Plant availability 2. Capacity factor 3. Heat rate 4. Fuel consumption 5. Forced outage rate
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits and emissions limits.
• Follow distribution network code requirements and operating procedures.
• Maintain accurate operation records and logs.
• Initiate training programmed for local engineers for individual capacity building for operation.
• Practical knowledge sharing among the shift engineers and technicians.
• Training program for distribution network and synchronization.
• Training in operation activities and watchkeeping and reporting.
• Manage Operational budget.
• Control fuel, chemicals, water, and consumable cost.
• Maintain accurate operational daily log, watch keeping records, ongoing maintenance activities.
• Daily operational activities, daily generation report, daily work requisition.
• Monthly generation reports, fuel consumption, lube oil consumption report.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, Marine Engineering or related discipline.
• Additional certifications in Gas Engine Operation & Maintenance, Diesel Engine Operation/Maintenance, Rotating Equipment Operation/Maintenance will be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of English.
• Good physical condition.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years for Bachelor Degree /12 years for Diploma holder of Operational experience in a power plant, oil & gas facility, industrial plant, marine facility, or similar environment.
• Proven experience of powerplant generators, pumps, valves, and associated auxiliary systems operation.
• Experience participating in plant shutdowns, outages, during major maintenance activities.
• Proven Experience with MAN engines in the 20-50MW Power plant.
• Detail knowledge about MAN DF Engines.
• Proven experience to Supervise and maintain operational team.
