CyberCollect Limited is a new collection agency established in Lagos. We provide professional debt collection services for banks, microfinance institutions, and telecommunication companies in Nigeria. Our mission is to ensure effective debt recovery while complying with legislation and ethical standards, helping creditors minimize losses and assisting debtors in finding optimal solutions to their financial problems.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Accountant
Location: Lagos (Hybrid/remotely)
Main Responsibilities & Areas of Accountability
- Maintain the company's accounting records, including income, expenses, fixed assets, and inventory.
- Review and process source documents (invoices, receipts, delivery notes, waybills).
- Execute banking operations and payments via internet banking platforms.
- Monitor the correct reflection of all transactions in the accounting system.
- Prepare accounting, tax, and management reports for internal and external use.
- Reconcile settlements with counterparties and perform bank account reconciliations.
- Liaise with local banks, tax authorities (FIRS, LIRS), and auditors.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing, preparing documents as requested by management.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and company regulations.
Daily Tasks
- Process and post source documents into the accounting system.
- Post invoices, credit notes, and delivery notes.
- Work with internet banking (remote banking) systems.
- Monitor timely payments and receipts from clients and partners.
- Verify the correctness of source documents for compliance with legal requirements.
- Maintain accounts using specialised software.
- Communicate with employees and counterparties regarding document flow and settlements.
- Record VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Company Income Tax (CIT) in the accounts.
Candidate Requirements
- Interested candidates should possess a B.Sc Degreewith 6 years work experience.
- A professional certification (ICAN, ACA, ACCA, or partial completion) is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of the Nigerian accounting system and financial reporting (including IFRS as adopted in Nigeria).
- Deep understanding of Nigerian tax legislation: VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, CIT, and other statutory levies.
- Familiarity with the regulatory framework: Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA 2020), FIRS guidelines, and state tax authority rules (e.g., LIRS in Lagos).
- Understanding of reporting requirements to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), including annual returns filing.
- Knowledge of audit requirements under the standards of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC).
- Experience with accounting software adapted for Nigeria (Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or similar).
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with source document processing and internet banking systems compatible with Nigerian banks.
Nice to have:
- Experience in fintech / IT / Microfinance institutions / banking in Nigeria (with understanding of licensing specifics and CBN reporting).
- Experience with multiple legal entities.
- Experience participating in accounting process automation.
- Familiarity with the FIRS electronic reporting portal (TaxPro Max).
