Job Title: Legal Secretary / Human Resource Officer

Job Summary

  • A reputable and growing organization is seeking to recruit a competent, discreet, and highly organized *Legal Secretary / Human Resource Officer* to support its legal, administrative, and human resource functions.
  • The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, trustworthy, professional, and capable of handling confidential documents, staff records, legal correspondence, contracts, meetings, recruitment matters, and general office administration.
  • The Legal Secretary / Human Resource Officer will provide secretarial and administrative support on legal matters while also coordinating human resource duties such as recruitment, staff documentation, employee records, attendance monitoring, onboarding, policy compliance, and workplace discipline.
  • The role requires someone with strong communication skills, good knowledge of office administration, basic legal documentation, HR procedures, and the ability to manage sensitive information with complete confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, typing, formatting, and filing legal documents, letters, agreements, contracts, minutes, and official correspondence.
  • Maintaining legal files, employee files, company documents, and confidential records.
  • Supporting management in recruitment, onboarding, staff documentation, and HR administration.
  • Keeping staff attendance, leave, disciplinary, and performance records.
  • Drafting employment letters, warning letters, memos, notices, and internal communications.
  • Liaising with external lawyers, consultants, government agencies, and other official bodies where required.
  • Coordinating meetings, appointments, interviews, and management schedules.
  • Ensuring proper documentation of company assets, staff records, contracts, and official files.
  • Supporting management with compliance, workplace policies, and employee relations.
  • Performing other administrative duties as may be assigned.

Key Requirements
Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of OND, HND, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification* in Law, Secretarial Studies, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Public Administration, or any related field.
  • Prior experience as a Legal Secretary, Administrative Officer, HR Assistant, HR Officer, Personal Assistant, or Office Secretary.
  • Good knowledge of legal documentation, contracts, filing systems, staff records, and office procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, email management, and document formatting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive company and staff information.
  • Good organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills and professional appearance.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian labour practices will be an added advantage.
