Job Summary
- The QA/QC Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that the Company's marine logistics operations and services consistently meet quality standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring quality assurance programs, implementing quality control processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- The incumbent will support the effective implementation and continual improvement of the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001:2015 requirements across both vessel-related and shore-based operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS) Administration:
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of quality processes across marine logistics operations, vessel support activities, procurement, and shore-based functions.
- Coordinate the review and update of quality procedures, work instructions, process maps, and operational standards.
- Maintain quality records, registers, manuals, and controlled documents in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor quality objectives and key performance indicators and recommend improvement initiatives.
Operational Quality Assurance:
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of operational processes to ensure compliance with established procedures and client requirements.
- Verify that services delivered across marine logistics operations meet agreed quality standards and contractual obligations.
- Monitor quality performance relating to vessel scheduling, logistics coordination, maintenance activities, procurement processes, and service delivery.
- Support the verification of maintenance records, operational checklists, inspection reports, and other quality-related documentation.
- Identify process deviations, service deficiencies, and quality gaps and recommend corrective measures.
Audit and Compliance Management:
- Plan and coordinate internal quality audits across vessels and shore-based operations.
- Support external audits conducted by clients, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor compliance with company procedures, quality standards, contractual requirements, and applicable maritime regulations.
- Track audit findings and ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support management reviews by providing quality performance reports, audit results, and improvement recommendations.
Vendor and Contractor Quality Management:
- Participate in the evaluation, qualification, and performance monitoring of vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Conduct quality assessments of suppliers to ensure goods and services meet specified requirements.
- Monitor contractor compliance with approved quality standards and contractual obligations.
Continuous Improvement and Non-Conformance Management:
- Investigate quality-related complaints, operational non-conformities, and service failures.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Promote quality awareness and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare monthly quality performance reports, trend analyses, audit summaries, and management reports.
- Maintain accurate records of audits, non-conformities, corrective actions, vendor assessments, and quality performance metrics.
- Provide regular updates to the QHSE Manager on the effectiveness of the Quality
- Management System and improvement initiatives.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the QHSE Manager in support of operational excellence and business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Professional membership with COREN, NSE, or other relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in QA/QC within maritime, marine logistics, offshore services, oil & gas, or a related industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality management tools.
