Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Laboratory Officer

Job Summary
- The Quality Control Laboratory Officer is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses and inspections to ensure that raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
- The role supports manufacturing operations by identifying quality issues, maintaining accurate laboratory records, and ensuring compliance with quality management systems and good laboratory practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological tests on raw materials, packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to approved procedures.
- Conduct routine laboratory analyses using standard testing methods and laboratory equipment.
- Record, Review, and interpret test results accurately and promptly.
- Verify that products comply with internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Monitor production processes and provide timely feedback to production teams on quality-related issues.
- Investigate non-conforming materials, out-of-specification (OOS) results, and customer complaints related to product quality.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory documentation, including test records, certificates of analysis, and quality reports.
- Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper operation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and reference standards.
- Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), health and safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in internal audits, external audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development, review, and update of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods.
- Support implementation and maintenance of quality management systems such as ISO standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Food Science and Technology, or a related field, Masters’ Degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 – 10 years of relevant laboratory and Quality Control experience in a manufacturing company.
- Experience with quality management systems and laboratory documentation.
- Familiarity with applicable industry regulations and standards.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency in data recording, analysis, and report writing.
- Good understanding of statistical quality control principles.
- Ability to interpret specifications, procedures, and technical documents.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Percentage of tests completed within specified turnaround times.
- Number of out-of-specification results investigated and resolved.
- Laboratory compliance with audit requirements.
- Accuracy and completeness of laboratory records.
- Equipment calibration and maintenance compliance rate.
- Reduction in product defects and customer complaints.
- Adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.
