We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Deckhand / Onboard Mechanic
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full‑Time
The Role
The deckhand/onboard mechanic will be responsible for:
- Grease and clean machinery
- Perform simple maintenance tasks
- Load and unload cargo
- Perform other tasks as instructed by the captain.
Responsibilities
- Assist the captain in safe vessel operations
- Enforce safety protocols, including life jackets
- Ensure safety of passengers
- Coordinate safe loading and offloading of cargos
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks
- Monitor engine performance and report abnormalities immediately.
Requirements
- Minimum of Secondary School certificate with 1-3 years’ experience in marine operations preferred
- Valid STCW and MEA certificate
- Proven skills in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining marine engines
- Basic first aid and fire safety training is an advantage
- Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
