Qualifications for a Counsellor

• A minimum of a First Degree or HND in Counselling, Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Social Work or a related discipline.
• Professional certification or membership with a recognized counselling or psychological association is an added advantage.
• At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in counselling, guidance services, mental health support, or a related field.
• Sound knowledge of counselling theories, techniques, ethics, and confidentiality principles.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide emotional support and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
