Job Title: Facility / Maintenance Officer

Job Summary

  • Our client is seeking to hire an experienced and proactive Facility / Maintenance Officer to oversee the maintenance, safety, and functionality of the hospital's buildings, equipment, utilities, and support systems.
  • The ideal candidate will ensure that all facility operations run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections of hospital buildings, facilities, and infrastructure.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility assets.
  • Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues across the hospital.
  • Monitor the condition of doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, furniture, and fittings.

Utilities Management:

  • Monitor and maintain generators, electrical installations, and power systems.
  • Ensure uninterrupted water supply and proper functioning of plumbing systems.
  • Oversee the maintenance of air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
  • Track utility consumption and recommend efficiency improvements.

Equipment and Asset Management:

  • Maintain records of hospital assets and maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate repairs and servicing of non-clinical equipment.
  • Monitor the condition of facility equipment and recommend replacements where necessary.
  • Ensure proper inventory and control of maintenance tools and materials.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and facility regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Support fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure facility operations meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Vendor & Contractor Management:

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors, technicians, and service providers.
  • Obtain quotations and support procurement of maintenance materials and spare parts.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality service delivery.

Housekeeping & Environmental Management:

  • Oversee cleanliness and general upkeep of the hospital premises.
  • Monitor waste disposal and environmental sanitation practices.
  • Ensure parking areas, walkways, and surrounding environments are properly maintained.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance reports.
  • Track maintenance costs and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Report major facility issues and operational risks to management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Facility uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Completion of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Maintenance response and resolution times.
  • Reduction in equipment downtime.
  • Compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Cost control and budget adherence.

Requirements

  • HND / B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facility Management, Building Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in facility or maintenance management.
  • Experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, hotel, manufacturing, or similar operational environment is an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical systems, generators, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to emergencies.
