We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Retail Manager / Buyer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Role Overview

  • The Retail Manager / Buyer is the most senior floor-facing role at Alma's. You will own the full retail operation, from buying and visual merchandising through to team leadership, sales performance, and customer relationship management.
  • You are equal parts merchant and operator: someone who can spot the right product, build a compelling floor, and develop a team that sells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the buying process, from sourcing, selection, pricing, and Open-to-buy (OTB) management across all product categories
  • Plan and execute visual merchandising standards, floor layout, and product placement aligned with brand direction
  • Drive store sales performance and hold accountability for conversion, Average Transaction Value (ATV), and Units Per Transaction (UPT) targets
  • Recruit, onboard, and continuously train the sales team on product knowledge, selling behaviours, and customer service standards
  • Own and develop long-term client relationships, including VIP client management and personal shopping support
  • Oversee day-to-day store operations including opening/closing, scheduling, and floor coverage
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager on stock health, replenishment, and loss prevention
  • Report weekly on sales performance, product movement, and team KPIs to management
  • Support new product launches, seasonal campaigns, and in-store activations

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a senior retail or buying role, preferably in fashion or lifestyle
  • Proven track record of driving sales and managing a team to target
  • Strong eye for product, trend awareness, and buying instincts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident with both clients and team
  • Proficiency in retail management tools and basic reporting
  • Highly organised with strong commercial awareness

Desirable:

  • Existing supplier or vendor relationships in the Nigerian fashion market
  • Experience in multi-brand or luxury retail
  • Degree or certification in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field
