Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experiencedBackground Check Officerto join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of3 years of experiencein background verification, due diligence, or risk assessment, preferably gained within aconsulting or professional services firm.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive background checks, verifying candidate information, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory requirements, and delivering accurate, timely reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-employment background checks, including employment, education, criminal, identity, address, and reference verifications.
  • Perform due diligence investigations for clients across multiple industries.
  • Verify information provided by candidates through direct engagement with employers, educational institutions, regulatory bodies, and other relevant sources.
  • Analyze verification findings and prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports.
  • Escalate discrepancies, adverse findings, or high-risk cases to management.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company policies throughout the verification process.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity while handling sensitive information.
  • Manage multiple verification cases simultaneously while meeting agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Liaise with clients to clarify verification requirements and provide status updates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancements and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Criminology, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in background screening, due diligence, compliance, or employee verification.
  • Previous experience in a consulting firm is mandatory.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and potential risks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting executive-level background investigations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and data privacy requirements.
  • Professional certification in HR, compliance, investigations, or risk management is an added advantage.

Salary
N450,000 – N500,000 per month
