Job Title: Telecom IP Network Engineer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Role Overview

• We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom IP Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our large-scale service provider IP routing and switching infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Implementation:

• Design & Deploy: Architect, configure, and scale core, aggregation, and edge service provider IP networks.
• Traffic Engineering: Implement and optimize IP/MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) topologies, RSVP-TE, and Segment Routing to manage capacity and minimize latency.
• Protocol Management: Configure and maintain robust routing environments using BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and MP-BGP.

Operations & Troubleshooting:

• Tier 3 Support: Serve as the escalation point for complex, high-impact network outages, performance degradation, and routing anomalies.
• Peering & Transit: Manage Internet Exchange (IX) peering points, IP transit providers, and CDN architectures.
• Lifecycle Management: Oversee hardware upgrades, line card expansions, and software/firmware patching across production routers.

Next-Gen Automation & Security:

• Network Automation: Develop scripts (Python, Ansible) to automate repetitive configuration tasks and speed up provisioning.
• Network Security: Implement infrastructure hardening, BGP Route Reflection filters, RPKI validation, and ACLs to protect core network planes.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Education:

• Experience: 3 to 6+ years of engineering experience inside a telecommunications carrier, Internet Service Provider (ISP), or large enterprise data center network.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Core Technical Competencies:

• Vendor Ecosystems: Hands-on experience configuring carrier-grade platforms (e.g., Cisco ASR/NCS running IOS-XR, Juniper MX/PTX running Junos, or Nokia 7750 SR running SR-OS).
• Protocols: Deep knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, BGP (internal and external), OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS (L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN).
• Telecom Specifics: Solid understanding of Mobile Backhaul (4G/5G transport network requirements), Carrier Ethernet (MEF standards), and Quality of Service (QoS) mappings.

Salary
N400,000 - N600,000 / Month.
