Job Title: Senior Pharmacist
Location: Asaba, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy unit.
- Review, dispense, and verify prescription medications accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide expert medication counseling and pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Monitor drug therapies for effectiveness, interactions, contraindications, and adverse effects.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient treatment outcomes.
- Oversee procurement, inventory control, and stock management of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) regulations and ethical standards.
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies, protocols, and quality assurance measures.
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Participate in clinical ward rounds and contribute to medication management decisions.
- Maintain proper documentation of prescriptions, controlled substances, and patient medication records.
- Ensure the pharmacy environment remains organized, safe, and efficient.
- Report directly to the Superintendent Pharmacist and hospital management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution.
- Must possess a valid license and current practicing certificate from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN).
- Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy practice.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical care, drug interactions, and medication safety.
- Sound knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of emotional intelligence and professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and pharmacy management systems.
- Excellent customer care and public relations skills.
- Articulate, cordial, hospitable, and patient-centered personality.
