We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: English Language and Literature Teacher

Location: Abuja

Job Description

  • We are seeking a passionate and qualified English Language and Literature Teacher to deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
  • The ideal candidate will foster a love for language and literature while helping students achieve academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver effective English Language and Literature lessons in line with the approved curriculum
  • Teach grammar, comprehension, writing skills, oral English, and literary texts
  • Encourage critical analysis, creativity, and effective communication among students
  • Assess, record, and report students’ academic progress through tests, assignments, and examinations
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations where applicable
  • Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching materials
  • Maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Manage classroom behavior and promote respectful communication
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school activities
  • Communicate with parents regarding students’ academic progress and behavior
  • Support extracurricular activities such as debates, drama, writing clubs, and literary events

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English Language, English Literature, or Education (English)
  • Teaching qualification (TRCN is an advantage)
  • Proven experience teaching English at the relevant grade level
  • Strong command of spoken and written English
  • Familiarity with prescribed texts and examination requirements (WAEC, NECO, Cambridge, etc., where applicable)

  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Creativity in lesson delivery and assessment
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Basic computer skills for lesson planning and record keeping
