Job Title: Collateral Manager

Location: Ibafo, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • A Collateral Manager is responsible for managing and safeguarding assets (collateral) pledged by borrowers to secure loans or financial transactions.
  • The role ensures that collateral is properly valued, recorded, monitored, and compliant with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and credit agreements.

Key Responsibilities
Collateral Management & Monitoring:

  • Track and manage collateral positions for loans, securities, or financial transactions
  • Ensure accurate documentation and registration of collateral assets
  • Monitor collateral values and margins to mitigate risk exposure

Valuation & Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct regular reviews and revaluations of collateral assets
  • Identify potential shortfalls and initiate margin calls where necessary
  • Assess the quality and liquidity of collateral

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
  • Maintain proper documentation (loan agreements, pledge agreements, etc.)
  • Coordinate audits and respond to compliance inquiries

Operations & Reporting:

  • Prepare collateral reports for management, risk teams, and regulators
  • Reconcile collateral records with counterparties and internal systems
  • Analyze trends and provide insights on collateral usage and risks

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Collaborate with credit, risk, treasury, operations, and legal teams
  • Liaise with clients or counterparties to resolve collateral-related issues

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s/MBA is an advantage)
  • 8–10 years’ experience in collateral management, credit risk, or banking operations
  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments, lending frameworks, and risk management practices
  • Proven experience at a senior or leadership level
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills• High attention to detail and understanding of regulatory requirements.
