Job Description
- We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pharmacist Lead to oversee pharmacy operations and lead our pharmacy team in Warri.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical services, providing clinical leadership, optimizing pharmacy operations, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise, proven leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to promoting the rational use of medicines while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
- Oversee the dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Review prescriptions for legality, accuracy, appropriateness of therapy, and patient safety.
- Provide advanced medication counselling and pharmaceutical care services to patients.
- Monitor medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, and adverse drug reactions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, professional, and organizational standards.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, procurement, stock control, and medication storage processes.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and accreditation requirements related to pharmacy services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Mentor, train, and support the professional development of pharmacy staff.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in health promotion, patient education, and community outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and ensure confidentiality in all professional interactions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)from a recognized institution.
- Current practicing licence with the relevant regulatory authority.
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong clinical knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medication therapy management, and patient counselling.
- Demonstrated leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations, quality standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Must reside in Warri or its immediate environs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications or professional training in Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Care, Healthcare Management, or Leadership.
- Experience managing pharmacy operations within a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Experience with inventory management, procurement, and budget oversight.
- Strong customer service, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
