Job Title: Expatriate or Local Ship Captain

Job Summary
- Our client urgently desire services of an Expatriate or local Ship Captain who has a minimum of BSc and a master’s degree in any relevant field.
- The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience. A previous experience in the same role in the Marine Industry will be required.. The ideal candidate must be resident within Delta State
Responsibilities
The job responsibilities for this role are:
- A captain's duties and responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, from ensuring the safety and security of the vessel and its occupants to managing the crew and maintaining the ship's seaworthiness.
- They are ultimately responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including navigation, crew management, cargo operations, and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Navigation and Steering:
- The captain is responsible for navigating the vessel, plotting courses, and making decisions about route adjustments based on weather, traffic, and other factors.
Crew Management;
- Captains supervise and manage the crew, assigning duties, ensuring proper training, and maintaining discipline.
Safety and Security:
- The captain's top priority is the safety and well-being of all on board, including passengers and crew. They ensure the vessel is seaworthy, equipped with necessary safety equipment, and follows all relevant regulations.
Vessel Maintenance:
- Captains are involved in maintaining the vessel's seaworthiness, including overseeing maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment is in good working order, and addressing any issues that may arise.
Cargo Operations:
- Captains are responsible for the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and handling of cargo.
Legal Compliance:
- Captains must ensure the vessel and crew comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Crisis Management
- Captains must be prepared to handle emergencies, make quick decisions, and manage situations effectively to ensure the safety of the vessel and its occupants.
Communication:
- Effective communication is crucial, as the captain must communicate with the crew, passengers, other vessels, and authorities as needed.
