About the Role

  • We are seeking accomplished Bridge Engineers to lead and deliver the design, assessment, rehabilitation, and construction supervision of bridge and major structural projects.
  • The successful candidates will take technical ownership of bridge schemes from concept through detailed design and on-site construction supervision, ensuring engineering excellence, compliance with relevant codes, and value for our clients across the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and analysis of new and existing bridges, culverts, retaining structures, and associated infrastructure.
  • Prepare and check design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports to relevant standards (e.g. Eurocodes, AASHTO, BS).
  • Carry out bridge inspections, load assessments, and condition surveys, and recommen rehabilitation or strengthening solutions.
  • Use structural analysis and design software (e.g. LUSAS, SAP2000, MIDAS, STAAD.Pro) to model and verity bridge behaviour,
  • Supervise construction works on site, ensuring works are executed in accordance with the design, specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Review contractors' method statements and as-built records, certify works, and resolve technical issues arising during construction.
  • Manage project deliverables, budgets, and programmes, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and review their work.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, and provide construction-stage technical support.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree an advantage).
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in bridge/structural design and assessment.
  • Registration with COREN (and membership of NSE or an equivalent professional body); Chartered status is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering bridge projects from concept to completion.
  • Proven capacity to supervise construction works on site to completion.
  • Capacity to workwithin a BIM (Building Information Modelling) framework is an advantage.

  • Proficiency in relevant structural and CAD software.
