Job Title: Library Assistant

Job Summary

- As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Library Assistant to support the effective operation of our academic library and learning resource center.
- The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring students, faculty, and staff have access to relevant learning materials and library services that support academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating and accessing library resources.
- Catalog, classify, shelve, and maintain books, journals, periodicals, and other educational materials.
- Support the management of electronic databases and digital learning resources.
- Maintain accurate records of borrowed and returned materials.
- Monitor library usage and ensure adherence to library policies and procedures.
- Assist with stock-taking, inventory management, and acquisition of library resources.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and conducive learning environment within the library.
- Support literacy, research, and information services for students and staff.
- Prepare periodic reports on library activities and resource utilization.
- Assist in implementing initiatives that promote reading, learning, and research.
Qualifications and Experience
- HND or Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience, preferably within an educational institution.
- Knowledge of library management systems and information retrieval tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
