Job Description

  • Our client is seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant ofor its Widows Savings Scheme.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Widows Savings Scheme in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management.
  • MS4A wishes to recruit a talented, God-fearing Finance Officer who has a call from God to serve Widows and who believes in working with local organizations. We are looking for someone who has integrity, recognizes Nigerians' ingenuity, and believes that the best of Nigeria can be better than the rest.

Responsibilities

  • S/he will assist in managing and maintaining accurate records of member savings contributions, withdrawals, and other financial transactions.
  • S/he will assist in preparing monthly financial reports, savings performance reports, and management accounts for decision-making.
  • S/he will assist in conducting bank reconciliations and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • S/he will assist in monitoring scheme funds, cash flow, and expenditures to ensure financial accountability and sustainability.
  • S/he will assist in ensuring compliance with financial policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control procedures.
  • S/he will assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, financial plans, and forecasts for the Widow Savings Scheme and related projects.
  • S/he will assist in coordinating the processing of payments and maintain proper financial records and filing systems.
  • S/he will assist with internal and external audits and respond to audit queries as required.
  • S/he will assist in preparing statutory and management reports and support regulatory compliance activities.
  • S/he will assist in working closely with digital systems administrators to ensure the accuracy of financial data captured in digital platforms.
  • S/he will assist in supporting financial literacy and record-keeping initiatives for beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Perform other finance and administrative duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting or other social science-related field
  • Applicants must have a second-class upper (2.1) or first-class or upper credit or distinction
  • Must be a full member of theInstitute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria(ICAN)
  • Other related professional courses will be an added advantage.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year post-NYSC professional experience in accounting, finance, audit, or financial administration.
  • Experience in maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and reconciling bank accounts.
  • Practical knowledge of budgeting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
  • Experience in processing payments, managing receipts, and monitoring expenditures.
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Ability to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Experience working with NGOs, cooperatives, savings groups, microfinance initiatives, faith-based organizations, or community development projects will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage member contributions, savings records, and financial transactions with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • The successful candidate will be based in Abuja.
