Kolomoni Microfinance Bank, a CBN-licensed Nigerian Microfinance Bank providing mobile and web-based financial services, including savings, investments, loans, and agency banking (POS terminals), is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Credit Administration

Location: Ibadan, Oyo (with oversight of all branch and agency locations)

Job Summary

  • The Head of Credit Administration owns the end-to-end integrity of the underwriting and credit administration function across Kolomoni's lending products.
  • The role sets and enforces underwriting standards, chairs or sits on the credit committee for higher-value exposures, owns portfolio quality outcomes, and ensures the Credit Admin function remains audit-ready and aligned with CBN MFB regulatory obligations as the bank progresses toward its national licence.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Policy & Underwriting Standards:

  • Own and maintain the credit approval memo checklist and underwriting standards across all lending product types
  • Set delegated authority limits for Junior and Senior Underwriters and review these periodically against portfolio performance
  • Approve or decline loans above Senior Underwriter delegated limits; chair or participate in the credit committee for high-value or high-risk exposures
  • Ensure underwriting practice keeps pace with new product launches (e.g., Kolomoni Capital Advance, KTAL/Babaloja) with appropriately calibrated, CBN-grounded policy numbers

Risk, Compliance & Portfolio Oversight:

  • Ensure full compliance of the Credit Admin function with CBN MFB prudential guidelines, single obligor limits, KYC tiering, and AML/CFT obligations
  • Own portfolio-level exposure monitoring, obligor concentration limits, and early-warning escalation across the loan book
  • Direct investigation and resolution of fraud indicators or material policy breaches identified by underwriting staff
  • Serve as primary Credit Admin liaison for internal audit, internal control, and CBN regulatory examinations
  • Report portfolio quality, underwriting exceptions, and emerging risk themes to the Head of Credit and executive management

Team Leadership & Process Management:

  • Manage, develop, and performance-appraise the Junior and Senior Underwriter team
  • Own underwriting turnaround time SLAs and drive process efficiency without compromising credit discipline
  • Establish and maintain credit file documentation standards, including collateral perfection requirements, across all branches and agency channels
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Sales, and Product teams to align documentation and disbursement conditions across the lending lifecycle
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and capability-building for the underwriting team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field; postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification (e.g., ACIB, credit risk certification) preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in credit underwriting/risk management, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role within microfinance, commercial banking, or fintech lending
  • Deep working knowledge of the CBN MFB regulatory framework, prudential guidelines, AML/CFT/NFIU obligations, and licensing requirements
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling underwriting teams and credit policy frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across executive, audit, compliance, and regulatory interfaces
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for board- and executive-level reporting
