Job Title: News Editor

Description

• This role offers an opportunity to shape editorial direction, uphold journalistic excellence, mentor reporters, and contribute to the growth of an international digital news platform serving audiences across Africa, the United States, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee editing, review, and publication of all newsroom content
• Ensure accuracy, balance, clarity, and ethical standards in all reporting
• Assign and guide stories from development to publication
• Supervise, mentor, and support reporters and contributors
• Identify breaking news and investigative opportunities
• Maintain editorial consistency and brand standards
• Collaborate on newsroom strategy and audience growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or related fields
• Minimum of 5 years editorial experience in a newsroom or media organization
• Strong editing, writing, and leadership skills
• Experience with digital publishing and fact-checking standards
• Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
