Job Title: Head Cashier

Location: Gwarimpa, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Head Cashier is responsible for supervising cashier operations and ensuring accurate handling of cash and customer transactions.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervision & Team Management: Coordinate the daily activities of all cashiers, enforce company cash-handling policies, and train, mentor, and evaluate cashier performance.
  • Transaction Management: Ensure accurate processing of customer payments and refunds, resolve customer payment issues, and handle cashier-related complaints.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Balance and reconcile daily cash, POS, and bank transactions; monitor cash shortages, overages, and discrepancies.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed daily cash and sales reports, supporting the finance department with accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Cash Control & Security: Ensure sufficient cash floats are available for daily operations, safeguard cash and other valuables from loss or theft, and coordinate cash deposits or withdrawals with authorized personnel.
  • Audit & Compliance: Assist during internal and external audits while ensuring absolute compliance with financial controls and company policies.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of an HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a cashier, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong numerical and cash-handling skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with the ability to prepare daily cash reports and reconcile transactions.
