Great Impact Initiative for Sustainable Development (GIISD) is a youth-led, non-governmental organization in Nigeria and committed to advancing sustainable human development across communities through tights-based, evidence-driven and youth-centered programming. Our thematic Focus cut across SRHR, Governance and Policy,Agribusiness and Food Security Nutrition, Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability, Digital Health and AI-Enabled Solutions and WASH.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programs Officer (Volunteer)

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job Description

  • As a Programmes Officer, you will work closely with the leadership team to ensure our programs meet the needs of our beneficiaries and achieve long-term goals.

Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Assisting in the planning, design, and execution of sustainable development programs and community initiatives.
  • Conducting field research, data collection, and baseline assessments to support project planning.
  • Monitoring project activities, tracking deliverables, and evaluating programmatic milestones.
  • Liaising and building strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
  • Drafting and preparing high-quality internal and external reports, grant proposals, and documentation.
  • Representing the organization at relevant workshops, meetings, and forums.

Requirements
Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (report writing and grant proposal skills are highly preferred).
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural competence to work effectively with diverse and vulnerable communities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.

Other Requirements:

  • Passionate about non-profit initiatives, social impact, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project locations for field-based work.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
