Job Summary
- Are you an experienced Data Center Technician with a passion for maintaining mission-critical IT infrastructure?
- We are looking for a hands-on professional to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, networking equipment, and structured cabling within our data center environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deployment & Setup: Perform rack and stack of servers, switches, routers, and storage equipment.
- Hardware Maintenance: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware and core networking components; execute firmware upgrades and equipment replacement.
- Remote Hands Support: Provide critical remote hands support, including power cycling, cable reseating, and console access using tools like SSH and PuTTY.
- Cable Management: Manage fiber and copper cabling, ensuring optimal routing, labeling, and structured cabling alignment.
- Asset & Ticket Tracking: Maintain an accurate asset inventory, update documentation, and manage tickets efficiently within ServiceNow or similar tools.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with data center security, safety protocols, and operational standards.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- HND or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a data center environment or a hands-on IT infrastructure support role.
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of server hardware, networking fundamentals, and fiber/Ethernet cabling architecture.
- Proven experience in rack and stack deployment, hardware troubleshooting, and structured cable management.
- Solid experience handling remote hands operations and managing asset inventories.
- Strong familiarity with data center operational workflows and best practices.
- Hands-on proficiency with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and network configuration tools (e.g., SSH, PuTTY).
Soft Skills & Physical Demands:
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to work comfortably and safely in a physically demanding environment.
