We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Tax / Treasury Specialist

Location: Vom, Plateau
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Summary

  • The Tax and Treasury Specialist is responsible for managing the organization’s fixed asset account, tax compliance, reporting, and planning, as well as overseeing treasury operations including cash management, liquidity forecasting, and banking relationships.
  • This role ensures that all tax obligations are met accurately and on time while optimizing the company’s cash flow and financial risk exposure.

Job Description
Tax Management:

  • Statutory remittances; monthly computation and remittances of VAT, WHT, PAYE, NSITF, ITF (quarterly) and pension. Check the GLs to correctly reclassify the expense.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Assist in tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records and documentation.
  • Prepare tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and related financial disclosures.
  • Enforces payment of outstanding taxes.
  • Support tax audits and liaise with external tax advisors and tax authorities.

Treasury Management:

  • Manage daily cash operations, including monitoring cash balances, funds transfers, and payment processing.
  • Prepare short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts to support liquidity planning.
  • Maintain and manage banking relationships, including account openings, closures, and signatory updates.
  • Monitor foreign exchange exposure and assist in hedging strategies (e.g., forward contracts, swaps).
  • Oversee and manage intercompany loans, borrowings, and investment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal treasury policies, covenants, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare treasury reports and analysis for management review.

Fixed Asset Management:

  • Fixed Assets Register; maintain and update Fixed Assets Register (FAR), ensure all additions & disposals are properly posted into GL Ac, ensure Fixed Assets Register align fully with GL, ensure items capitalised are within capitalisation policy and reconciliation of Capital WIP with GL and breakdown of balance.
  • Intangible Assets and Right of use; ensure all additions are properly recorded, posted and agreed to GL and ensure correct capturing and posting of amortization
  • Depreciation Schedule; ensure depreciation is in line with applicable accounting standards.
  • Asset Verification and Control; Coordinate periodic physical verification of fixed assets, investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical and Fixed Assets Register (FAR) and ensure assets are properly tagged and tracked.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting standards like International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Prepayment-Total card; Ensure weekly update and reconciliation of cards on ERP.
  • Bank Account reconciliation; reconciliation of foreign bank accounts and loan accounts.
  • Financial accounting; joining the team to review Management accounts and timely working on other financial tasks that may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, or equivalent are an advantage.
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant experience in the role.
  • Proficiency in preparing Financial Statements and expertise in Financial Reporting
  • A deep understanding of Finance principles. 
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, or equivalent are an advantage.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and treasury management systems (TMS).
  • Familiarity with statutory remittance processes and compliance frameworks is preferred.
  • Strong Analytical Skills, problem solving and organisation skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to meet deadlines.
