Job Title: Driver Administrator
Location: Lagos

Overview
- The job incumbent is responsible for the administration and management of the drivers. This role involves ensuring that drivers comply with company policies, legal regulations, and safety standards.
- The administrator also manages driver schedules, records, and communication to optimize operational efficiency and ensure the smooth running of transport activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
Driver Management, Reporting & Record Keeping:
- Maintain and update driver records, including bio-data, licenses, certifications, guarantors, and performance reviews.
- Schedule drivers for shifts and leave, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with working hour regulations.
- Monitor driver attendance, behavior, and performance, providing feedback and initiating corrective actions where necessary.
- Track license renewals and other statutory requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of driver activities, including logs, compliance checks, incident reports, and vehicle usage.
- Generate periodic reports on driver performance, fuel consumption, route efficiency, and operational metrics for management review.
- Maintain organized filing systems (both digital and physical) for all driver-related documentation.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Support HR in the recruitment and selection of drivers.
- Facilitate background checks, guarantor verification, and onboarding processes.
- Brief new drivers on company policies, safety requirements, and operational guidelines.
Compliance, Safety & Training:
- Ensure drivers comply with all legal, regulatory, and company transport policies.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and safety checks to maintain standards.
- Organize and coordinate driver safety, defensive driving (DDT), and refresher training courses.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive measures.
Communication & Coordination:
- Act as the primary point of contact between drivers and the transport/operations management team.
- Communicate route assignments, schedule changes, and special instructions.
- Address driver inquiries, grievances, and welfare issues, escalating where necessary.
- Facilitate smooth communication between drivers, dispatch, operations, and maintenance teams.
Operational Support:
- Assist in transport logistics planning, including route planning and vehicle allocation.
- Liaise with the maintenance team to schedule vehicle repairs and minimize operational downtime.
- Track driver deployment and disciplinary cases, recommending corrective measures.
Performance Monitoring, Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor and analyze driver performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Recommend and implement training, process improvements, or corrective actions.
- Challenge existing processes constructively and propose innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, safety, and driver satisfaction.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and global best practices to ensure the company remains competitive.
- Actively contribute to projects and initiatives aimed at operational innovation and continuous improvement.
Welfare & Administrative Duties:
- Support payroll/finance with verified data on driver attendance, overtime, and allowances.
- Manage driver-related inventory (uniforms, safety gear, etc.).
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and other documentation as required by management.
Key Requirements
Education:
- OND / HND / B.Sc. in Business Administration, Transport Management, Logistics or related field.
- MSC / MBA is an added advantage
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a transportation, fleet, or logistics role, with a strong focus on driver management and administration within the transport/logistics industry.
Professional Certification/Affiliations:
- Professional certificates in CILT Certification or transport/Logistics related field would be an added advantage.
Technical requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to use transportation management software.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Problem-solving skills with ability to multitask effectively.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards within the transportation industry.
- Strong understanding of driver management processes and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of road networks and understanding of road signs.
- Strong ethical standards and integrity.
